- SEO plugin configured for full schema.org output
- Server-rendered, well-structured content
- llms.txt and a clean sitemap

WordPress starts ahead for AI search
A growing share of people ask an assistant instead of searching, and the assistant answers from a few sources it can reach and read. WordPress has a real head start here: it renders pages on the server, so the content is in the HTML that crawlers read, and its SEO plugins can add the structured data that helps assistants understand a page. The advantage is easy to lose, though — a security plugin that blocks AI bots, a page builder that defers content to JavaScript, or schema left switched off.
This check reads one WordPress page and reports where it stands on the things that decide whether an assistant can cite you, with the specific WordPress setting or plugin to fix each one.
1. Access
robots.txt rules for the AI crawlers, and whether any noindex or "block AI bots" setting is keeping them out.
2. Readability
How much content is in the server HTML — usually WordPress’s strong point, unless a page builder gets in the way.
3. Quotability
One clear H1, descriptive section headings, schema.org markup, Open Graph and an llms.txt file.
Questions and answers
How is this different from the general AI Readiness Checker?
The checks are similar, but this one confirms the site runs WordPress and phrases every fix in WordPress terms — the setting, the SEO plugin option or the block to use. For non-WordPress sites, use the general AI Readiness Checker.
Which AI crawlers does it check?
The same nineteen as the general checker: OpenAI (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User), Anthropic (ClaudeBot and the Claude search and user agents), Perplexity, Google, Bing, Apple and others. Search crawlers and training crawlers are reported separately.
My WordPress site uses a page builder. Does that matter?
It can. Most builders still output the content in the server HTML, which is fine. Some defer it to JavaScript, which hides it from crawlers that do not run scripts. The content check tells you which case you are in.
What are the WordPress-specific fixes?
Mostly settings you already have: turning off "Discourage search engines", allowing AI bots in your security plugin, enabling full schema output in Yoast, Rank Math or SEOPress, using the FAQ block, and adding an llms.txt with a plugin.
